This series is inspired by the magic and tradition of the Hastings Jack in the Green festival, reimagined through the eyes of a child. Each illustration is a double-page spread made for my University project. The composition of this book is made to be in the style of a continuous concertina book. Each illustration captures the vibrant energy and playful mystery of the parade, from towering foliage-covered figures to flower-crowned dancers and hidden characters watching from the flowers. I wanted to explore the joy and curiosity that this kind of celebration sparks, blending folklore with imagination. With a focus on rich colors, movement, and storytelling, the series brings a sense of wonder to a beloved local tradition, turning it into a whimsical adventure for young readers.
