Inside the Kiwi – A Sequential Exploration of Spoilage
This 10-panel illustration mimics the motion of animation, using sequential imagery to explore food safety through the life of a kiwi. The journey begins with a whole, fresh fruit and gradually zooms in to a microscopic level, revealing the hidden bacteria responsible for spoilage. As the sequence zooms back out, signs of mold begin to appear on the fruit’s surface.
Created using pencil sketches and finished with digital colour, this piece highlights how food can become unsafe before visible changes occur offering an engaging, educational look at ripening, spoilage, and the unseen processes within everyday foods.
